Repository and Self-Archiving Policy


The European Journal of Medical Case Reports (EJMCR) is fully committed to the principles of open access and long-term preservation of scholarly work. To ensure wide dissemination and unrestricted access, EJMCR allows authors to deposit and share all versions of their manuscripts in institutional or public repositories of their choice, without embargo.

Versions Permitted for Deposit
Authors are permitted to deposit the following versions of their manuscript:
•    Submitted Version (Preprint): The version submitted to EJMCR before peer review.
•    Accepted Version (Postprint): The version accepted for publication after peer review, including all revisions.
•    Published Version (Version of Record): The final formatted version published by EJMCR.

All versions may be deposited immediately upon acceptance or publication in any of the following locations:
•    Institutional or university repositories
•    Subject-based repositories (e.g., PubMed Central, Europe PMC)
•    Author’s personal website
•    Public repositories or academic networks (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Zenodo)

Attribution Requirements
When depositing the Published Version, authors must include a citation and link to the official publication on the EJMCR website, using the article DOI.
Example: “This article was originally published in the European Journal of Medical Case Reports (EJMCR), [insert year]; DOI: [insert DOI link].”

All EJMCR publications are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are properly cited.

Digital Preservation
EJMCR ensures long-term digital preservation of its published content through Portico, a leading global digital preservation service, along with secure off-site backups. This guarantees permanent accessibility and archiving of all published materials.
